Southwest Contemporary is “the leading resource for contemporary arts and culture in the Southwest.” They’re seeking pitches for their Fall-Winter 2026-27 print issue—themed “Alien”:
“We seek writers based in or closely connected to the North American Southwest to submit story ideas for our Fall-Winter 2026-27 issue, Volume 14: Alien. Pitches should be focused on contemporary artists working in the region who are grappling with political, social, psychic, and cosmic dimensions of the alien.”
They’re looking for studio visits/artist profiles (800 words); reporting (1,200 to 2,000 words); features (1,200 to 2,000 words); creative essays (400 to 700 words); interviews (500 to 2,000 words); cultural criticism (1,200 to 2,000 words); travel writing / field reports (1,200 to 1,500 words); and reviews (300 words).
