Lake Journal is an independent print magazine dedicated to celebrating New England’s lakes. Published three times a year, each issue focuses on “the unique character of one lake and its watershed.” The magazine is “an exploration of how the lakes inspire us to live creatively and in community, through narrative features or reported articles about the lake’s history, profiles of characters who live near the water, or organizations that are making a difference in the natural environment.” They’re accepting pitches for their inaugural issue, which will center on Lake Winnisquam, NH, and its watershed. They will pay $150 to $200 for shorter pieces and essays, and $750 to $1,000 for longer reported features. To learn more, refer to this post and their contributor guidelines.
