The American-Scandinavian Foundation annually awards translation prizes for outstanding translations of poetry, fiction, drama, or literary prose written by a 20th- or 21st-century Nordic author. The Nadia Christensen Prize recognizes an outstanding translation of a literary text from a Nordic language into English; the Leif and Inger Sjöberg Award recognizes a distinguished effort by an emerging translator whose literary translations from a Nordic language have not previously been published. There is also the Wigeland Prize (this is for the best translation by a Norwegian), the Inger and Jens Bruun Translation Prize, which recognizes the best Danish translation, and the Turið Sigurðardóttir Translation Prize, which honors the best translation from a work of Faroese or Icelandic literature into English. The application includes 25-50 pages of prose or 15-25 pages of poetry.
