MagNorth is “a digital magazine writing a new cultural narrative for the North of England.” They’re seeking freelance journalists and writers:

“MagNorth is looking for freelance journalists and writers with a particular interest in environmental action, social infrastructure and the power of communities to change the places in which they live.

We want to commission thoughtful, properly reported stories about people across the North of England responding to some of the most urgent challenges of our time.

That might mean investigating:

• Grass-roots conservation and habitat restoration

• Local responses to the climate emergency

• Sustainability, land use and changing relationships with nature

• Community-led energy, food and transport projects

• Neighbourhood organisations creating connection and belonging

• Work addressing isolation, inequality or social division

• Individuals and groups strengthening the fabric of their communities

• Established programmes whose impact deserves closer examination”
