The Last Straw magazine was “founded in 1992 and is focused on natural building and alternative design.” They’re looking for pitches for their next issue:

“For the next issue of The Last Straw, we’re looking for explorations and proposals of reusing the buildings we have. Reuse, repair, and retrofit; in a time with an insatiable appetite for concrete and glass and profitmaxxing five-over-one yuppie dorm extrusions, these maneuvers offer a way out of the 50-year-lifespan (if you’re lucky) build/raze/repeat cycle. Sometimes the best choice is not to build at all: vacant and underutilized structures abound. Send your pitches to editors@thelaststraw.org by September 16th!”

They will pay contributors an honorarium of $100. For details, refer to their call for pitches.
