Pit is a magazine about live fire cooking. They’re seeking pitches for The SMELLY Issue. Do you have an idea for a story? Here’s what you need to know:
“- There are some obvious angles here around the smelliest foods and how great they are. If you plan to pitch about one of these foods, please think about the wider story. Look beyond the obvious ‘this food smells and here’s why it’s great’. What’s the bigger picture? We are going to receive a lot of pitches about the same foods. What makes yours different?
- We welcome geeky scientific pitches, but they should come with an injection of fun and readability.
- We like weird ideas. If you think ‘this is a bit out there’ it’s probably worth a conversation. Just get in touch.
- We’d love some wacky first-person narrative pitches about smelly experiences.
- We are open to fiction but not poetry.
- We are also looking for photography pitches, but NOT illustration”
They generally pay writers £150 to £200 per piece (around 1,000 to 2,500 words), photographers £100 to £200 and illustrators £150 (single piece) or £800 to 1000 (whole issue). If interested, send your pitches to hello@pitmagazine.uk. To learn more, refer to this post and this page.
