OkayAfrica is a media company that connects a
global audience to Africa. They are seeking experienced writers and editors who
are interested in regular freelancing. At the moment, they want to expand coverage
of just about everything: style, music, dance, visual art, politics, and
health. The general formats that they would like for stories are: interviews, service journalism, opinion pieces/personal essays, short features, longer features, and video/photo/socials. In the past, they have paid $150 to $200 for straightforward pieces but
they want to change things up a bit and are happy to discuss rates for more
ambitious projects. Contact them at aaron@okayafrica.com.
