Arguments is a pan-African platform that analyzes issues facing the continent,
investigates the stories that matter, and amplifies a diversity of voices. They
are looking for “bold, fun, imaginative, colourful reviews, listicles,
interviews, investigations, (photo) essays, features, analysis, deep dives on
(African) art and culture, creative industries, events, issues.” Average rate
for op-eds is $150 and for reported features, it is $200. If interested, email

to think big. They are planning a Climate Crisis series and need
all sorts on board: water activists, urban planners, economy wonks, energy experts,

art, (sub) cultures, and lifestyle across the continent. They have tweeted, “We
want stories, photo essays, podcasts, data ideas on Amapiano x Afrobeats
crossovers, LGBTQIA+ life, TikTok, Shitor v. Yaji, natural hair, literature,
gender-bending comedy, Gen Z, Nollywood, and every other African film industry,
Ousmane Sembene, music streaming, the rise of portraiture in visual art,
indigenous African sports, Whatsapp for good, bad, and impressionable mothers,
intra-African migration/travel, fashion, sex, restitution of African artefacts,
chess prodigies, Rumba, architecture, women thriving, theatre, MORE! We are not
limited to these ideas.” They pay $150 to $200 per piece (750 to 800 words).
