The Stacks, “a blog for writing on unconventional games and software, their surrounding material, and the ongoing process of documenting history,” has raised its rates for guest contributors. According to their submissions page, they now pay:

• $100 CAD for shorter essays or articles of about 600–1,000 words (previously $50 CAD)
• Up to $250 CAD for larger research essays, articles, or projects of about 2,000 words or more (previously $150 CAD)
• Higher rates for very large research projects of about 5,000 words or more

Rates may vary depending on the research and interviews involved. They’re particularly interested in (obscure) videogames history, art history as it relates to videogames or interactive media, archival and library theory, sex, gender, or sexual identity in relation to videogames, and academic perspectives on videogames. They don’t take reviews, listicles, or creative nonfiction. To learn more, refer to their submissions page.
